WECF is an international network of women’s and environmental organisations, implementing projects in 40 countries within Europe, the Caucasus and Central Asia and advocating a healthy environment at global level for us all. WECF taps into the potential of women to balance the environment, health and economy.
WECF was founded in 1994 following the Earth Summit in Rio (1992), to give women a stronger voice in the field of sustainable development and in developing environmental policies.
The WECF European network has three offices :
• France – WECF France Association ;
• Netherlands – "Stichting WECF" Foundation ;
• Germany - WECF eV.
WECF objectives :
• non toxic chemicals for all ;
• clean and affordable energy for all ;
• clean water and safe sanitation for all ;
• rural development and safe food production for all
To achieve these objectives, WECF is working to :
• reduce poverty ;
• raise public awareness of environmental health issues ;
• ensure a greater consideration of health and environmental issues within policies at national, European and international level
• promote public participation and environmental rights (Aarhus Convention);
• Encourage a better balance between men and women’s roles
Advocacy and field projects
WECF projects offer safe, ecological solutions to local problems in the areas of sanitation, energy, agriculture and chemicals. Through its advocacy work, WECF offers women’s perspectives to policymakers at national, European, international levels.
WECF has NGO status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC).
WECF is an official partner of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and an elected representative of the women's major group.
WECF is a member of the European Environment and Health Committee (EEHC).
ECF France is the French branch of WECF, founded on 31 March 2008 as an association governed by the 1901 French law and an integral part of the WECF international network.

The WECF’s French branch was founded in 2008, choosing to set up its headquarters in the Cité de la Solidarité Internationale.
WECF France has two offices in the Cité de la Solidarité Internationale at 1, Place de l’Eglise St. André in Annemasse (France - Haute-Savoie).
The WECF France team comprises an office director, development officer, and advocacy and events coordinators. The NGO runs a regular internship scheme.
Next year it will also be moving into brand new offices in the new Etoile Annemasse-Genève business district.
As a member of the "Annemasse, Solidarité Internationale" Collective which brings together 17 local international solidarity associations, 3 youth and cultural centres (MJC) and the town of Annemasse, WECF France is actively involved in the life of the local community.
